Engagement Session Locations

Many of you are booked for an engagement session within the next two months.

If you do not an engagement session, perhaps you could consider the list below as an opportunity to think about wedding picture locations.

At the end of this post I will have a list of locations within Kingston & area for you and your fiancé to consider.

Other points you want to consider in a location are the following:

- does the area offer shelter from rain? (Most do not.)

- does the location reflect any of the interests, hobbies, or special moments you have together?
(A family cottage, a park where he/she proposed etc.)

- try and choose a location where you will not be having your wedding photos: this offers you an opportunity to have a few different backdrops over the course of your work relationship with your photographer.

- is payment required to enter into the grounds of the location? (All entry and travel fees are paid by the bride and groom on behalf of the photographers attending.)

- season: is the location you have in mind 'better' in one season than another?

- sensitivity: do you have a preference for privacy?

- how many locations? Sometimes the two hours spent together allows for more than one location.

After six years of providing photography services within Kingston, you may appreciate that Steven and I enjoy a challenge and an opportunity to be creative - we want to keep our portfolio fresh, so new locations are always exciting.

With that said, all the recommended locations below are safe (we know the location very well!), easily accessible, and wonderful in their own way.

Steven and I have a few new recommendations this year: are you game to meet us at a surprise address?! Keep in mind, we also want the session to reflect the personalities and chemistry of the couple.

Without further ado, here is a specific location list:

East End of Kingston

- Barriefield Rock Garden (pretty in May when the lilacs are in bloom, trails wind through a wooded area with flower gardens throughout. There is a small wooden bridge and a flat, green field space.)

- RMC - Location offers some shelter from the rain (limestone overhangs, a gazebo). Grounds include limestone walls, old doorways, a fort, as well as the water plus Kingston's downtown in behind.

- Pittsburg Library - Gore Road. Grounds offer limestone walls, green space, a wooded walking trail, a bit of waterfront, a bench, field flowers.

Downtown Kingston

- architecture, limestone walls, the waterfront, City Hall, the market, the alley way behind Toucan

- Confederation Basin

- City Park

- quiet streets with great architecture and fence lines

- Queen's: Summerhill (affords shelter from light rain), limestone, archways, cobblestone, library (we can also take photos at different faculties)

Central Kingston

- The old Kingston Psych Hospital grounds

- Lake Ontario Park (where the old fair grounds used to be)

West End of Kingston

- Lemoine Point

- Rotary Park

North of Kingston

- Little Cataraqui Conservation Area - a great loop to walk. Trees, marsh, and wooded trails. Plus bridge, benches, and a lookout tower (when the Trail Center is open)

- Kingston Mills Locks - Green space, dock, river, green space, picnic tables, large stairway, railway, lock system

- Upper Brewer's Locks - lock system, green space, bridge, beautiful in fall.

OTHER:

- Let's take the ferry to Wolfe Island!

- What's in Gananoque?

- We love Westport!

- Spindle Tree Gardens: www.spindletree.ca

As you can imagine, allowances have to be made as these are public locations, and we have to work around people walking around, through, etc.

So talk it over, and let us know!
